Anne Bourne is based in Canada, where she moves from near lake ontario, the the Fleuve St Laurent, and currently on the north Pacific coast off Vancouver Island.

Ontario land acknowledgement — The land and waterways that lie within the nation borders of Canada and the oceans surrounding, have been the site of human and more-than-human community, creation and aspiration for millennia. I am listening for the sound of footsteps of human inhabitants from over 15,000 years, the multi-species sound field, and the living presence in Tkaronto, of the Mississauga’s of the Credit, the Anishnaabe, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. Our region is subject to Dish with One Spoon wampum belt covenant, an agreement among the Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee, to define this territory, to share and protect the resources, the water, the land of the region, and the ecosystem surrounding this part of the great lakes system that connects us to oceana. I enter into this shared commitment with deep respect for the spiritual and life giving significance of water, with empathy and listening for the suffering and extinction many species are facing with climate crisis, with a lift towards our accelerating collective evolution and with gratitude to have been welcomed here to live.
